The Allure Band was formed in February 2016 by lead singer Titania “Tiny” Adams when asked by Coach Butch McAdams to “put together some guys” to perform at a happy hour that he and his partner host every First Friday at the historic Takoma Station Tavern… and put together some guys she did! Tiny formed “The Allure Band,” her own band which she didn’t expect to last longer than the First Friday show that they did in March. Allure was so well received that they were asked to be the house band for First Fridays and have been for the past 8 years.
Alongside of Tiny on the frontline is male vocalist Maurice “Uptown Modiggz” Randolph and backed by veteran musicians: Tony Cothran (guitar), Tim Gould (drummer), Marlon “MoBeatz” White Sr. (congas) and David Cooper (bass) is what gives Allure the R&B, Hip-Hop and Go-Go sound that has caught the attention of Mayor Bowser and her staff who has come to see them perform as well as media mogul Cathy Hughes. In 8 years, Allure has become a force to be reckoned with and a name that everyone will soon know!
In addition to Takoma Station, Allure Band has been featured in the lineup for DC Emancipation Day (2018), H Street Festival (2022), Taste of Woodbridge (2023), Golden Triangle event in DuPont Circle for the Mayor’s office of Entertainment (2023), Art All Night w/JusPaul (2023), DC LEAD graduation ceremony (2023) and 202 Creates Month Kickoff (2024). They can currently be heard every First Friday at Takoma Station for happy hour 7:30-9:30pm.
