TITANIA (pronounced: tih–tan–yuh)

1.    Giant (origin Greek)

2.    Medieval English folklore and A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, the queen of fairies and the wife of Oberon

3.    A person of exceptional importance and reputation; person or thing of great size, power, influence, or achievement (derived from Titan)

In Greek Mythology, the Titans were members of the second order of divine deities.  With the word Titan meaning “one that is gigantic in size or power : one that stands out for greatness of achievement one of great strength,” their name was definitely appropriate; as is the name of one of Washington DC's vocal talents: Titania “Tiny” Adams.   The name “Titania” is Greek and means giant (derived from Titan) but don't confuse her nickname with her first name.  Titania is not so “tiny” in regards to her sound, personality and legendary future.

Born in Kankakee, Illinois, about an hour south of Chicago, Tiny grew up with a love for music and discovered her voice after hearing Mariah Carey's 1990 hit, “Vision of Love.”  Combining her love of music with her long time fascination with living on the east coast, in 1998, Tiny packed up her Ford Probe and took the 11 hour drive alone from Kankakee to Washington D.C.

After moving to the DMV Area, Tiny has since been featured in a few commercials, including most recently two for Magic 102.3 with Donnie Simpson and Russ Parr), a hair show, music videos, as well as performing at open mics.   Although she did not grow up in the Go-Go culture, Tiny was introduced into singing with Go-Go bands New Years 2012 and has since sang with various bands.  In 2013, Tiny started as the host for Lighthouse World Wide, an online show where she interviewed up and coming artist and actors and featured their videos.  Currently, Lighthouse World Wide has evolved into 87TV Network which Tiny hosts ’87 Spotlight Show’ where she continues interviewing artists, actors and comedians such as J. Prince, Chico Bean and Eddie Bryant.  A few of the highlights of her career include working with Grammy Award winning producer Vudu Spellz, sharing the stage with “The God-Father of Go-Go” legendary Chuck Brown for a night and spending two years as the female vocalist for E.U. featuring Sugar Bear where she performed weekly at various clubs, private events, Maryland Live! Casino, Stone Soul Picnic in Richmond, VA and outdoor festivals in front of thousands of people.  All of this proved to be training ground for what was next.

In February 2016, after just leaving her former band and before starting with E.U., Coach Butch McAdams asked Tiny if she could “put together some guys” to perform at a happy hour that he and his partner hosts every “First Friday” of the month at the historic Takoma Station Tavern, and put together some guys she did!  Tiny formed “Allure Band,” her own band who she didn’t expect to last longer than the First Friday show that they did in March.  Allure was so well received that they were asked to perform again for the First Friday in April.  This eventually led to them being asked to be the regular First Friday band as well as filling in other weeks and performing for Takoma Station’s annual holiday party.  Alongside of Tiny on the frontline is male vocalist Maurice “Uptown Modiggz” Randolph and backed by veteran musicians: Tony Cothran (guitar), Antonio “Boo” Williams (keyboard), Antonio “Tonio” Robinson (drummer), Marlon “MoBeatz” White Sr. (congas) and David Cooper (bass), is what gives Allure the R&B, Hip-Hop and Go-Go sound that has caught the attention of Mayor Bowser and her staff who have come to see them perform as well as media mogul Cathy Hughes.  It was the frequent visits from the Mayor’s staff which led to Allure Band being selected to perform amongst national acts such as Brandy, Angie Stone and Big Daddy Kane for the 2018 DC Emancipation Day held at Freedom Plaza.

In 2016, Tiny released her first music video for her single “Fire Charmer” but between her work schedule and increased performances with E.U. (performing as many as 5 shows some weeks) and managing Allure, her personal music project suffered and there wasn’t a follow up for “Fire Charmer.”  As of 2019, Tiny is focused on her band, Allure, and she is back in the studio to finish her highly anticipated (and long overdue) debut album.

Though her journey has been long and at times hard, it has been worth it!  She believes that God has a purpose for her and that “A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.” (Proverbs 18:16)  Like a true Titan, Titania is determined to leave a legacy that is written in the meaning of her name.
